This statue is actually a new one, replacing the old one which was reportedly moved to the University of Winaya Mukti and is being attempted to be moved back to the State Building.
The story enshrined in this statue took place during the Dutch colonial era. Entering the period of colonialism, the duchy (regency) of Sumedang was in the grasp of European colonial invaders, and like other regions in general at that time who tried hard against the invaders, at this time the people of Sumedang also incised a separate story in the history of resistance, and the story of this Prince Cadas was hard at work. is the most famous resistance story in Sumedang. That is the reason why the admin said this statue is so phenomenal and legendary because it tells a phenomenal and legendary story as well.
Cadas Pangeran is a 3 km long highway built by Governor General Herman Willem Daendels as a link between Sumedang and Bandung and is part of the post Anyer-Panarukan highway construction. In the process of making it, the construction of this road claimed the lives of many Sumedang people who were forced to work on the road construction project. At that time the Regent of Sumedang, Prince Kusumahdinata IX, also known as Prince Kornel, was angry to see his people being treated arbitrarily in order to realize the ambitions of H.W Daendels who intended to build a post highway that connected Anyer-Panarukan and passed the Sumedang Regency.
